What’s New in this series?

The “Zelda” series has seen dozens of games released over the past few years, but “Breath of the Wild” is the first-ever Zelda game to be treated as an open world. As a result, the map is so vast that, while there are objectives and quests, you decide where and when you ultimately end up.

This contrasts with most previous “Zelda” games, where you start in a small world and are encouraged to follow a particular path. This is quite a revolutionary change for the “Zelda” series. These days, other games are great, but they are a bit formulaic. The open-world concept completely changes that and offers players a new adventure.

In addition to the open-world concept, you can collect weapons and food as you play. Food can be eaten immediately, but it can also be used to create more helpful food, such as improving health or increasing resistance to harsh conditions.

The world is significant, and you will often find yourself distracted. Even if you are moving toward your goal, you may find something of interest in the distance, so it is up to you whether to continue pursuing your dream or go out exploring. It is also helpful to take mental (or physical) notes here.

  1. Giuseppe Munford

This game is fantastic! It was the first game I got for my switch and I don’t regret it one bit. There is so much gameplay and things to discover that I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it. I really recommend having this game for your switch.

  2. Desire Trammell

125 hours went by so fast. Never before have I gotten so lost in a video game world. The desire to keep playing, and playing and playing is unimaginable until you play and complete the opening sequence of the game yourself. I won’t say much, simply because Legend Of Zelda Breath Of The Wild is THE best game I’ve ever played in my life. The Nintendo switch’s portability made it impossible to put down. I played at work, on the toilet, at the park, on the plane, on the bus, in bed. Literally anywhere where I could use both hands. Just play it to believe it.

  3. Hazel Mastrangelo

A must-have title for any Legend of Zelda fan!
What can I say that hasn’t been said already? It’s a classic for sure. Once you get off the Great Plateau you can go just about anywhere. Some locations require specific outfits but the game is so immersive you won’t mind running around collecting stuff.

  4. Julene Boye

Beautiful game. I loved playing it. So much to explore landscape wise anyway. I only wish they had put more into the story…like being able to control the weather. It rained a lot in the game and that took some enjoyment out of the game for me. And when I say it rained a lot…I mean it rained…a lot! If they had worked some sort of weather control into the story that would have been cool

  5. Loris Rolston

    Best Zelda game ever!
Many thing to do in the game, you can truly feel the world is alive and very fun exploration and combat.

    this game is gorgeous
    this game is grand
you can glide through the sky, you can sail the sand

  7. Luci Standard

I… have never been so taken aback by the vastness of a game. You really don’t need to read another review, Zelda alone is worth the price of a switch. Like if they sold this game for 300 dollars I would probably buy it

  8. Zelda B

If you are a Zelda fan and/or a fan of Western RPG’s like the Elder Scrolls series (for example) then you will LOVE this game. Hundreds of hours can be spent playing this game and exploring the VAST map that this game touts. Like nothing else the Zelda series have ever seen and that’s all before the DLC that will be released later this year.

  9. Afton Aker

Game is more than I expected. The open world is Huge beyond imagination. And the attention to detail throughout… butterflies and lizards… even fireflies. Birds from seagull to eagles. I think jintendo did a fabulous job in designing. Had to have taken forever.

  10. Sharita Fitzhugh

So far so good, still currently playing through the game as I write this review. If you’re a fan of the Zelda series then you’ll of course love this new entry. Cons being your weapons constantly breaking & having to find new ones & at times wandering aimlessly around to get to your next objective in their new Open World system they embraced

  11. Brenda Madewell

This game is visually beautiful – one could spend days just exploring the scenery and listening to the calming music. Gameplay is simple to learn, and has a good challenge with the different enemy type.

  12. Millicent Carroll

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the wild is by far the BEST Zelda game to date. Spend close to 200+ hours playing in the vast open world and still have a lot to discover. If you own a Nintendo Switch, this is a MUST BUY!

  13. Holly Fonda

Bought the Switch for my son, but we play Zelda BOTW together. We have made it to Hateno, which I’m guessing is less than a tenth of the overall game. Let me just say that it is insanely good. It is epic. It is like all the imaginings I had as a kid playing dice RPGs. The freedom of being able to explore such a large, rich, intricate and gorgeous world is fantastic. Climbing mountains, gliding down into charming villages, galloping through open countryside on horseback, running along wooded trails, hunting, foraging and cooking, dodging thunderstorms, conquering shrines. Even just gazing at the landscape from the top of a tower is just awesome.

  14. Fredda Rosemond

Amazing game from Nintendo. World recommend to anyone wanting a good rpg. For sure one of the best games on the switch!
